Eugénio Tavares Secondary School celebrates its 31st anniversary with sports, art, and culture on Brava Island.

Eugénio Tavares Secondary School , located in Nova Sintra on Brava Island , is celebrating its 31st anniversary with a program dedicated to sports , art , culture , and interaction among members of the educational community .

The celebrations , which are already underway , will reach their peak on Friday , October 16th , two days before the institution 's official anniversary , celebrated on October 18th .

According to the school 's director , Nelson Miranda, in statements to Inforpress, the anticipation of the main activities is due to the fact that the anniversary this year coincides with a Sunday.

Sports and culture mark the celebrations.

Throughout the week, students participate in inter- class tournaments in different sports , with the finals scheduled for Friday .

In addition to the competitions, the school has prepared a series of initiatives aimed at promoting creativity , artistic expression , and student participation .

Among the planned activities are exhibitions of work done in the Arts subject , poetry reading sessions , comic book presentations , dance and theater performances .

The program also includes a procession to the flagpole, in a celebration intended to bring together students, teachers, staff , and other members of the school community .

Celebrations value cultural identity .

The celebrations also coincide with the celebrations of Culture Day , providing an opportunity to reinforce the importance of cultural events in the school environment .

On Brava Island , known for its literary and musical tradition and its connection to the poet Eugénio Tavares, the integration of artistic activities into the commemorations takes on a special significance .

The program aims to encourage student participation , value their talents , and strengthen ties between the different elements of the educational community .

The awards ceremony will not be held this year.

Despite the diverse range of activities planned , the traditional gala recognizing students , teachers , and staff who excelled during the school year will not be held this year.

Nelson Miranda explained that the current management team had only recently taken office and had not had enough time to prepare the ceremony .

The decision does not , however, prevent the remaining commemorative initiatives from taking place , which continue to focus on student participation and the recognition of their abilities.

Three decades of presence in education in Brava

Upon turning 31 , Eugénio Tavares Secondary School marks another milestone in its presence within the education system of Brava Island .

The institution provides an important space for the academic training and personal development of young people from Brava, contributing to the preparation of new generations.
